Ten tools for Creative Sessions

Here we describe ten effective tools that can be individually combined depending on the aim and premise of your project. Every aspect of Creative Sessions can be scaled up to meet the demands of the task in question. In terms of project duration they can last between 4 and 14 days. The ultimate aim in every case is to present a predetermined number of implementation-ready innovation concepts.

Orange Tool›› ORANGE TOOL: Briefing, Strategy & Goal Formulation

The first step is without doubt the most important and has a decisive influence on the quality and success of the final concepts at the end of the overall innovation process. In conjunction with the client, the brief’s parameters are worked out, goals established and strategies elaborated in detail. As part of this process the entire project and its objectives are examined and investigated from a wide range of perspectives. The overall Creative Sessions process is also outlined and responsibilities allocated.
Duration: 1 to 2 days

Blue Tool›› BLUE TOOL: Trends & Future

If your project has to hold its own against the competition, improve on something that already exists or succeed in other markets, it is important to properly assess and understand trends and future scenarios. To help you achieve the best results in this area, we work closely with leading trend scouts and futurologists.
Duration: 2 to 8 days

Brown Tool›› BROWN TOOL: Knowledge Management and Expertise

Anyone wanting to develop relevant ideas today must combine existing and new knowledge in a highly effective way. But what different kinds of knowledge pool does your project actually need? During the course of this workshop a plan will be drawn up, based on the previously developed strategies and project goals, setting out which specific knowledge pools and resources need to be tapped into and when and where to bring them into contact with each other.
Duration: 1 to 2 days

Yellow Tool›› YELLOW TOOL: Research Fields

Research fields are those knowledge pools and resources that serve Creative Sessions participants as a crucible in which their ideas can spark. These research fields could, for example, be experimental presentations, patents made available for the team members to handle, developments originating in small international labs or trials conducted live. Another way might be to gather together all the products in a particular product group (for example all European soft drinks for children) or organise short excursions to unusual places as a way of bringing the relevant expertise to life. This tool defines the necessary research fields, researches into knowledge and know-how and marshals those resources that will really stimulate the later generation of ideas.
Duration: 2 to 6 days

Pink Tool›› PINK TOOL: Dream Team

Depending on your specific requirements, we will put together a wide-ranging team of people whose special constitution will allow it to form a self-inspiring „collective brain”. This expert team will come together in a Creative Session to develop the largest possible number of high-quality solutions and concepts and can comprise up to 60 members. The experts can be staff from your company, scientists, children, doctors, physically handicapped people, unemployed people, craftsmen, artists or consumers from your target group. More information can be found by clicking on the „Dream Team” button.
Duration: 2 to 6 days

Red Tool›› RED TOOL: Creative Session

This tool is the actual idea generation process. Depending on the particular project in question, a Creative Session can last two days and can be repeated up to three times in succession with different teams. This can lead to the development of up to 2,000 high-quality raw ideas that will serve as the basic material for the next stage.
Duration: 2 to 6 days

White Tool›› WHITE TOOL: Idea Puzzling

Idea Puzzling focuses on using the large volume of raw material generated previously as a springboard for the development of several big ideas. The company should use this tool as an opportunity to become actively involved and systematically contribute its know-how. Here, mixed teams made up of staff and outside experts have proved themselves to be particularly effective.
Duration: 1 to 2 days

Grey Tool›› GREY TOOL: Dummies & Sketches

This tool involves a kind of interim presentation of initial ideas (between 30 and 150) to the client and key project personnel. It calls for real creativity in getting the maximum number of rough ideas ready for the next stage. Depending on the particular task in hand, it could be useful for experts and specialists to be brought in here in order to help drive forward individual aspects of ideas forward towards realisability.
Duration: 1 to 2 days

Black Tool›› BLACK TOOL: Idea Evaluation & Assessment

This tool helps teams evaluate whether the goals developed in the first step have been achieved and which concepts are actually suitable for realisation. The idea evaluation process can be carried out in multiple stages involving different teams and experts. How many ideas get through this stage will depend above all on how professional and neutral the moderation is.
Duration: 1 to 2 days

Green Tool›› GREEN TOOL: Presentation

If ideas are original, new and relevant, they will inevitably provoke strong emotional reactions: some people will be taken aback and others filled with enthusiasm. In all cases, the form taken by the presentation will determine the future development of the innovations and whether they are ultimately accepted. This tool therefore focuses on the highest standards of professionalism and creativity in presentations. The aim is to fire the enthusiasm of managers, staff and teams and motivate them sufficiently for the best ideas to be realised.
